FULL DISCLOSURE: There is confusion arising from a silver CD that Polar Bear put out later entitled 'Bono Works At McGonagals (catalog number PB-049, barcode 5 987325 549187). According to AchtungBootlegs, and despite the title, none of those tracks come from any of the 1979 McGonagals shows at all. Rather the sources are listed as:

Believed sources (see below for detail):
1-8: June, 1979. Dublin, Ireland. McGonagals Pub
. 9-10: October 3, 1981. Salford, England. Salford University.
11-12: October 3, 1980. Retford, England. Porterhouse.
13-15: March 15, 1981. Reseda, CA. Country Club.
16-18: December 13, 1981. Lido Beach, NY. Malibu Beach Night Club.
19: November 22, 1981. New York, NY. The Ritz.

Notes :

There are several reasons this is not the Polar Bear source. First, the Dublin show on February 28 1980 was the big one at Dublin Stadium with Island Records in attendance, and following which the band signed there initial record deal. I have a full recording of that Dublin show and the recordings are clearly not the same (Bono's intro to Cartoon World, for example, is different). This recording obviously sounds like a club and nothing like a 2800+ audience, there are no comments from Bono as to the label/signing, etc which he made aplenty at that February 26, 1980 show. There is also a difference in track time b/w the two of around 10 minutes and the fact that this came to me clearly as 'Bono Works McGonagals - June 1979'.

All that said, this is a great and extremely early recording that I haven't seen up anywhere.
