Notes:
This was a very cool event. The National have a new album "I Am Easy To Find" which will be released next month.
In addition, they made a short film of the same name with director Mike Mills which utilizes many of these new songs.
They put together a mini tour of 5 nights in 5 cities (Paris, London, NYC, Toronto, LA) to premiere both the short film and the new album.
The night started with a short intro by lead singer Matt Berninger, followed by a screening of the 25 minute film, followed by a Q & A with Matt, Aaron Dessner, Mike Mills, moderated by Julien Baker.
After a 45 minute break, the concert began. The entire album was played, almost in sequence, culminating in an encore which ended with 3 of their most well known songs.
There was a full string section on stage, and the Brooklyn Youth Chorus was featured on several songs. As you can imagine, this was a very difficult ticket.
StubHub prices were still $400+ before fees on the day of the show.
I managed to find a reasonable pair on The National's subreddit page.
I'm a casual fan, but I love these special events, and this was definitely worth the trouble.
